About World Economic Data

A free, source-transparent view of global economic data, built for reading and comparing countries.

What this site is

World Economic Data presents the World Bank’s World Development Indicators for 217 economies as country profiles, indicator pages, rankings and downloadable files. Every value shows its source, reference year and update date.

Where the data comes from

All figures come from the World Bank’s World Development Indicators (WDI). We reorganise and present them; we do not alter source values. Each indicator page links to the World Bank’s own definition.

License and attribution

World Bank data is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). You may reuse it, including commercially, if you credit the World Bank. Suggested credit: “World Bank, World Development Indicators, via World Economic Data.”

How to cite

Cite the indicator, the reference year and the update date shown on the page, and link to the page you used.

What to keep in mind

Data are produced by national statistical offices and compiled by the World Bank. Countries report on different schedules, definitions differ, and values are sometimes estimated or later revised. This site is for information only and is not investment, legal or policy advice.

Corrections

Corrections are published as a new data release; earlier releases stay available for audit. The methodology page describes the process.
